Ahmad al-Kharrat (Ahmad Muhammad al-Kharrat) is a contemporary scholar, linguist, and university professor specializing in Arabic grammatical sciences, Quranic studies, and hadith lexicography.

Scholarly Contributions

Al-Kharrat's research centers on Arabic linguistic heritage and its application to foundational Islamic texts. His critical editions include Ahmad ibn Abd al-Nur al-Malaqi's treatise on grammatical particles, Rasf al-mabani fi sharh huruf al-maani. In hadith linguistics, he examined classical lexicographical traditions in his study Manhaj Ibn al-Athir al-Jazari fi musannafihi al-Nihaya fi gharib al-hadith wa-al-athar, which analyzes the methodology and organization of Majd al-Din Ibn al-Athir's dictionary of rare hadith vocabulary. He presented this research at the academic symposium organized by the King Fahd Complex for the Printing of the Holy Quran in Medina.

  • Inayat al-Muslimin bi al-Lugha al-Arabiya Khidma lil-Quran al-Karim (Muslims' Care for the Arabic Language in Service of the Noble Quran) is a specialized treatise that examines how Arabic linguistic sciences were developed and utilized by Muslim scholars specifically to serve and elucidate the Quranic text. Adopting a descriptive research methodology, it documents the linguistic efforts undertaken in direct service of the scripture rather than offering a general survey of Arabic philology.

  • Manhaj Ibn al-Athir al-Jazari fi Musannafihi al-Nihaya fi Gharib al-Hadith wa al-Athar is a specialized scholarly treatise that examines the lexicographical method and structure of Majd al-Din Ibn al-Athir's dictionary of rare and difficult hadith terms, al-Nihaya fi Gharib al-Hadith wa al-Athar.

  • al-Mujtaba min Mushkil I'rab al-Qur'an (The Selected Guide to Difficult Quranic Syntax) is a work on Quranic grammatical analysis that focuses on resolving obscure, difficult, and ambiguous syntactic constructions across the Quran. Rather than providing an exhaustive grammatical breakdown of every word, it selects challenging vocabulary, clauses, and phrases, offering a single preferred analysis grounded in classical scholarship for each case.
