Abd al-Aziz ibn Adnan al-Aydan is a contemporary Hanbali jurist, legal theorist, and editor known for his pedagogical commentaries and treatises on Hanbali jurisprudence and legal theory, including al-Dalail wal-Isharat ala Akhsar al-Mukhtasarat .

Scholarly Contributions and Reception

Al-Aydan's scholarship centers on clarifying classical Hanbali texts across substantive law (fiqh), legal theory (usul al-fiqh), and inheritance law (fara'id) . In legal theory, he authored Tajrid al-Qawaid wal-Fawaid al-Usuliyya, an abridgment of the work of Ibn al-Lahham (d. 803 AH) designed to distill core principles and illustrative legal applications while omitting peripheral scholarly disputes . The jurist Khalid ibn Ali al-Mushayqih commended this work as a beneficial condensation suitable for instructional study .

In substantive jurisprudence, al-Aydan collaborated with Anas ibn Adil al-Yatama on al-Dalail wal-Isharat ala Akhsar al-Mukhtasarat, an extensive commentary on Ibn Balban's legal primer that elucidates its expressions, details governing principles, and provides textual evidence and rationales according to the relied-upon positions of later Hanbali authorities . In the field of inheritance law, the two scholars co-authored al-Futuhat al-Rabbaniyya, an exposition of Abd al-Rahman al-Ba'li's didactic poem al-Durra al-Mudiyya .

Alongside his commentaries, al-Aydan has participated in editing classical Hanbali manuscripts in collaboration with al-Yatama and al-Mushayqih . His scholarly and teaching activities have been based in Riyadh .
