Tafsir al-Uthaymin: Fatir (Tafsir Surat Fatir) is an exegesis of the thirty-fifth chapter of the Qur'an by the Saudi scholar Muhammad ibn Salih al-Uthaymin (d. 1421 AH / 2001 CE) .

Scope and Subject Matter

The work is dedicated to the exegesis of Surah Fatir, a Meccan surah consisting of forty-five verses that is also known as Surat al-Mala'ikah (The Angels) and represents the thirty-fifth surah in the standard codex order . Surah Fatir is the final of the five chapters in the Qur'an that open with the phrase of praise, الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ ("Praise be to God") .

The commentary addresses the primary themes of the surah, including the affirmation of divine oneness (tawhid), God's omnipotence and exclusive agency in creation and provision, the appointment and forms of the angels, the inevitability of the Resurrection, the mission of the prophets, and warnings against worldly deception and the enmity of Satan .

Methodology

The text follows the author's typical analytical approach to Qur'anic commentary. Ibn Uthaymin proceeds verse by verse, explaining the vocabulary and syntactic structure of the Qur'anic text, clarifying the theological doctrines affirmed by the verses, and systematically extracting points of benefit (fawa'id) encompassing creed (aqidah), legal rulings, and ethical admonitions .

Publication

The work forms part of the author's broader corpus of Qur'anic exegesis (Tafsir al-Qur'an al-Karim) and was issued in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia under the supervision of the Shaykh Muhammad bin Salih al-Uthaymin Charitable Foundation (Mu'assasat al-Shaykh Muhammad ibn Salih al-Uthaymin al-Khayriyyah) .
