Tafsir al-Uthaymin: al-Sajda is a Quranic commentary by Muhammad ibn Salih al-Uthaymin (d. 1421 AH / 2001 CE), expounding upon the thirty verses of Surah al-Sajda .

Origin and Publication

The work originated from audio-recorded lessons that al-Uthaymin delivered every morning during summer vacations at his mosque in Unayzah . It was later prepared, edited, and released in print by the Scientific Department at the Shaykh Muhammad bin Saleh Al-Othaimeen Charitable Foundation in accordance with the guidelines established by the author, with their preface completed in Jumada al-Akhira 1436 AH .

Method and Content

During these lessons, al-Uthaymin relied on Tafsir al-Jalalayn—authored jointly by Jalal al-Din al-Mahalli (d. 864 AH) and Jalal al-Din al-Suyuti (d. 911 AH)—as the foundational text placed before the students . In expounding upon the chapter, he reads the passage and its concise classical gloss, engages with alternative interpretations, and analyzes grammatical constructions and lexical nuances .

The commentary covers the entire thirty verses of Surah al-Sajda in sequence, concluding with the discussion of the final verse ( فَأَعْرِضْ عَنْهُمْ وَانْتَظِرْ إِنَّهُمْ مُنْتَظِرُونَ ) . Throughout the text, al-Uthaymin highlights creedal and legal deductions, addressing themes such as the divine origin of the Quran, God's attributes, and the disbelievers' stance toward revelation, followed by systematically numbered lists of benefits and takeaways derived directly from the verses .
