Mutun Talib al-Ilm – al-Idafiyya – 4 (Arabic: متون طالب العلم - الإضافية - ٤) is the fourth volume in the supplementary series (al-Mutun al-Idafiyya) of the Mutun Talib al-Ilm educational curriculum, edited and verified by Abd al-Muhsin al-Qasim, imam and preacher of the Prophet's Mosque in Medina . The volume comprises a critically edited text of Kashf al-Shubuhat (The Unveiling of Doubts), a treatise on Islamic monotheism by Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab (1115–1206 AH / 1703–1792 CE) .
Contents and Scope
The volume is dedicated to Kashf al-Shubuhat, a concise theological work authored to refute recurring arguments and objections regarding tawhid al-uluhiyya (the oneness of God in worship) . The text systematically addresses doubts raised against the doctrine of devotion purely to God, answering them with evidence from the Quran, the prophetic Sunnah, scholarly consensus (ijma'), and the statements of the Prophet's Companions .
Editorial Methodology and Publication
Al-Qasim prepared the text using valuable antique manuscript copies as part of his broader pedagogical initiative to provide sound, authenticated texts across various Islamic disciplines for students to memorize and study . The edition includes an introductory apparatus detailing the editorial methodology, descriptions of the manuscript sources, a biographical sketch of Ibn Abd al-Wahhab, and facsimile samples of the consulted manuscripts .
The editor finished preparing the volume on the Day of Eid al-Adha, 10 Dhu al-Hijjah 1441 AH . A second edition was published in 1442 AH / 2020 CE, comprising 160 pages . In addition to the annotated scholarly version containing variant readings, the text was also prepared in a stripped version without manuscript variance footnotes to facilitate memorization by students in study circles associated with the Prophet's Mosque and its remote learning programs .
