Muhammad Salah al-Itrabi (fl. 1430–1433 AH / 2009–2012 CE) is a contemporary Egyptian researcher in Islamic jurisprudence and legal theory (usul al-fiqh), known for his study on the legislative implications of prophetic non-action, al-Turuk al-Nabawiyyah: Ta'silan wa-Tatbiqan ("Prophetic Omissions: Theoretical Grounding and Practical Application") .

Education and Teachers

Abu Abd al-Rahman Muhammad Salah Muhammad al-Itrabi is based in Kafr al-Shaykh, Egypt . He pursued his higher academic studies in legal theory at the Department of Islamic Sharia within the Faculty of Dar al-Ulum at Cairo University, where he earned his master's degree for his dissertation on prophetic omissions (al-tark) .

In his academic and religious training, al-Itrabi studied under and acknowledged several scholars, prominently dedicating his primary work to the hadith scholar Abu Ishaq al-Huwayni, as well as acknowledging his father-in-law Imad Sabir al-Mursi and Muhammad Sa'd al-Azhari .

Scholarly Contribution and Reception

Al-Itrabi's scholarly focus centered on the theoretical foundations and applied branches of al-tark al-nabawi (the Prophet's intentional omissions and non-actions as a source of Islamic law) . His thesis, al-Turuk al-Nabawiyyah: Ta'silan wa-Tatbiqan, structured into three major parts with various subchapters, systematically compiled previous literature across eras and classified practical legal applications derived from prophetic omission . In examining these rulings and determining preponderant positions, al-Itrabi adhered to a Salafi methodology .

His work received critical commendation and formal introductory prefaces from a number of contemporary scholars and academics, including Abd al-Hamid Ali Abu Zunayd, Muhammad Abd al-Maqsud, Ahmad Abd al-Rahman al-Naqib, Yasir Husayn Burhami, and Ashraf ibn Mahmud al-Kinani . Abu Ishaq al-Huwayni noted the rarity and precision of its approach, and the study was subsequently published by the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs in Qatar in 1433 AH / 2012 CE .
