Muhammad Eid Muhammad Abdullah is a contemporary scholar of Arabic linguistics and an assistant professor in the Department of Arabic Language at Taif University, known for his critical scholarship on Quranic recitations and manuscript editing.

Academic Career and Education

Abdullah earned his master's degree in Arabic linguistic foundations (usul al-lughah) in 1991 CE, producing a critical edition of al-Tajrid li-Bughyat al-Murid fi al-Qiraat al-Sab by Ibn al-Fahham al-Siqilli under the supervision of Abd al-Hamid Abu Sikkin. His doctoral research spanned nine years, after which he joined the faculty of the College of Arts at Taif University as an assistant professor. He studied under and consulted scholars including Abd Allah Rabi' and Muhammad Ahmad Khatir.

Textual Criticism and Scholarly Focus

Abdullah's scholarly work focuses on philological precision, textual transmission, and the verification of classical treatises on Quranic recitations (qiraat). In 1428 AH (2007 CE), he published al-Maakhidh ala Tahqiq Dari al-Duri li-Kitab al-Tajrid li-Ibn al-Fahham ("Critique of Dari al-Duri's Editing of Ibn al-Fahham's al-Tajrid"), a specialized study evaluating the published edition of Ibn al-Fahham's text. In it, he systematically categorized editorial shortcomings into textual omissions, unauthorized alterations to prose and Quranic examples, erroneous attribution of variant readings, and flawed annotations. He aimed to protect the transmitted recitations from editorial errors, exonerate classical authors from modern misreadings, and advocate rigorous manuscript collation methodology.
