Jasim al-Fuhaid al-Dosari (full name: Abu Sulayman Jasim ibn Sulayman ibn Hamad al-Fuhaid al-Dosari) is a contemporary Hadith scholar and manuscript editor, best known for his multi-volume hadith compilation al-Rawd al-Bassam bi-Tartib wa-Takhrij Fawaid Tammam ("The Smiling Garden in Rearranging and Documenting the Benefits of Tammam") .
Scholarly Contributions
Al-Dosari dedicated significant research to reorganizing classical hadith literature and editing early Islamic texts. In al-Rawd al-Bassam, he restructured the rare narrations from Fawaid al-Hadith by the Hadith master Tammam al-Razi to make them accessible to researchers . His methodology included tracing primary and supporting chains of transmission (mutaba'at and shawahid), citing assessments by earlier hadith critics, and evaluating the authenticity of disputed narrations . His hadith arrangements received critical scrutiny in Muhammad Sabah Mansur's monograph al-I'lam bi-Naqd Kitab al-Rawd al-Bassam ("Notification of the Critique of the Book al-Rawd al-Bassam"), which acknowledged the substantial effort involved in his work while cataloging numerous methodological oversights and perceived errors .
He also authored a treatise titled Daf' al-I'tisaf 'an Mahall al-I'tikaf ("Repelling Injustice Regarding the Place of Spiritual Retreat") in opposition to the legal opinion of Muhammad Nasir al-Din al-Albani restricting spiritual retreat (i'tikaf) to the three sacred mosques . When al-Dosari sent the draft to Hammud al-Tuwayjiri seeking a foreword, al-Tuwayjiri refused to endorse it due to the inclusion of sharp personal disparagement directed at al-Albani, affirming al-Albani's stature in the Sunnah; the treatise was subsequently published with the offensive remarks removed .
