Abu Abd al-Rahman Atif ibn Hasan al-Faruqi is a contemporary Islamic scholar and hadith researcher, best known for his study Ahadith Di'af wa 'Alayha al-'Amal bi-Ghayr Khilaf (Weak Hadiths Acted Upon Without Dispute) .
Scholarly Approach
In his research, al-Faruqi examined Prophetic traditions whose chains of transmission (asānīd) are weak according to hadith scholars, but whose legal and theological meanings remain sound and established by scholarly consensus (ijmā') . His work compiles and analyzes these narrations alongside the evaluations of hadith critics and statements of consensus among Muslim jurists, addressing topics such as Islamic creed regarding the uncreated nature of the speech of God, ritual purity, prayer behind both the righteous and the corrupt, and usurious conditions in loans .
