Asim Abdullah Ibrahim (also known as Asim al-Qaryuti) is a contemporary scholar of hadith and an academic who served as a professor in the College of Noble Hadith at the Islamic University of Madina.

Academic Career and Scholarship

Ibrahim specialized in prophetic hadith, biographical evaluation of narrators, and textual criticism. Working within the faculty of the Islamic University of Madina, he engaged in research on hadith methodology and narrator transmission. Among his specialized contributions is Tanbihat ala Tahrifat wa Tashifat fi Kitab Majma al-Zawaid wa Manba al-Fawaid ("Notices on Textual Corruptions and Misspellings in the Book Majma al-Zawaid"), in which he systematically traced and corrected scribal distortions (tahrif) and misreadings (tashif) in narrator names found in the printed editions of Nur al-Din al-Haythami's major compilation. To establish the authentic readings, he cross-referenced primary manuscript witnesses, al-Haythami's related works, and biographical dictionaries of narrators.

In addition to textual criticism, he authored al-Isnad min al-Din wa min Khasa'is Ummat Sayyid al-Mursalin ("The Isnad is Part of the Religion and Among the Distinctions of the Prophet's Nation") on the importance of chains of transmission in Islamic scholarship. He also prepared critical editions of classical texts, including Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani's treatise on narrators practicing concealment (tadlis), titled Ta'rif Ahl al-Taqdis bi-Maratib al-Mawsufin bi-l-Tadlis.
