Amr Abd al-Azim al-Huwaini is a contemporary Egyptian hadith researcher and manuscript editor from Kafr al-Sheikh, known for his comparative hadith studies.

Life and Scholarly Activity

His full lineage is Abu al-Mundhir Amr ibn Abd al-Azim ibn Niyazi Sharif al-Huwaini, and he is based in the village of Huwayn in the Kafr al-Sheikh Governorate of Egypt. He studied hadith under the Egyptian scholar Abu Ishaq al-Huwayni, whom he regarded as his teacher and from whom he received direct transmissions and clarifications on hadith gradings. His younger brother, Khalid Abd al-Azim, has also engaged in heritage verification and the editing of classical texts.

Al-Huwaini authored al-Tiryaq bi-Ahadith Qawwaha al-Albani wa-Da‘afaha al-Huwayni Abu Ishaq ("The Antidote: On Hadiths Authenticated by al-Albani and Weakened by Abu Ishaq al-Huwayni"), completed in 1435 AH (2014 CE). The work systematically traces narrations that were authenticated or graded as good (hasan) by Muhammad Nasir al-Din al-Albani but subsequently deemed weak (da‘if) by Abu Ishaq al-Huwayni across his various writings and critical editions. The book received commendatory introductions from scholars including Muhammad 'Id al-Abbasi, Muhammad ibn Ibrahim al-Shaybani, and Tariq Awadullah Muhammad.

In textual editing, he prepared a critical edition and hadith analysis of the classical treatise Fada'il al-Bayt al-Muqaddas ("Merits of the Holy House") by the fifth-century scholar Abu Bakr al-Wasiti, which was reviewed and prefaced by manuscript specialist Issam Muhammad al-Shanti and Tariq Awadullah Muhammad.
