Identity and Scholarship

Abu Asim al-Barakati al-Misri's personal name is al-Shahhat Sha'ban Mahmud Abd al-Qadir . His scholarly writings engage fields such as legal theory (usul al-fiqh), inheritance law, and creed (aqidah).

His treatise on legal theory, Dalalat al-Iqtiran wa Wajh al-Ihtijaj biha inda al-Usuliyyin ("The Implication of Conjunction and the Basis for Its Evidentiary Use among Legal Theorists"), was completed on 19 Jumada al-Akhirah 1429 AH and published in 1432 AH / 2011 CE . It analyzes the jurisprudential validity of dalalat al-iqtiran (textual conjunction) and the differing views of the majority and other scholars, with the research proposed and guided by Wahid ibn Abd al-Salam Bali and reviewed with an introduction by Sami ibn al-Arabi al-Athari .

Al-Barakati also authored Tafnid al-Shubuhat Hawl Mirath al-Mara fi al-Islam ("Refuting Misconceptions Regarding Women's Inheritance in Islam"), a work defending Islamic inheritance rulings that was reviewed and prefaced by Wahid ibn Abd al-Salam Bali in 1430 AH / 2010 CE . In theological discourse, he prepared al-Wala wa al-Bara fi al-Islam ("Loyalty and Disavowal in Islam"), a doctrinal study arranged in a question-and-answer format, completed in Jumada al-Ula 1433 AH / April 2012 CE .
