Abd Allah ibn Salih al-Fawzan (b. 1370 AH / 1950–1951 CE) is a Saudi Islamic scholar, educator, and author based in Buraydah, known for his works Minhat al-Allam fi Sharh Bulugh al-Maram and Tajil al-Nada bi-Sharh Qatr al-Nada.

Early Life and Education

Abd Allah ibn Salih ibn Abd Allah al-Fawzan was born in the city of Buraydah in the al-Qasim province in 1370 AH. Following his primary schooling, he enrolled at the Scientific Institute in Buraydah, where he studied under several prominent teachers, including Salih ibn Ibrahim al-Bulayhi, Salih ibn Ibrahim al-Sukayti, Ali ibn Ibrahim al-Dali', Salih ibn Abd Allah al-Muqbil, Hamad ibn Muhammad al-Muhaymid, and Fahd ibn Muhammad al-Mushayqih.

He subsequently pursued higher religious education at the College of Sharia in Riyadh, graduating with distinction in the academic year 1393–1394 AH (c. 1974 CE).

Teaching Career and Scholarship

Upon graduation, al-Fawzan was appointed as a teaching assistant at the College of Sharia in Riyadh, but he declined the position and requested a transfer back to the Scientific Institute in Buraydah. There, he taught a wide range of disciplines, including Quranic exegesis (tafsir) and its principles, Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh) and legal theory (usul al-fiqh), contemporary doctrinal trends, Arabic grammar (nahw), and rhetoric (balaghah). He continued teaching at the institute until 1412 AH (c. 1991/1992 CE), when he joined the faculty of Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud Islamic University (al-Qasim branch) in the Department of Sunnah and Its Sciences.

Al-Fawzan composed several pedagogical commentaries that gained widespread use among students of Islamic knowledge. In Arabic grammar, he authored Tajil al-Nada bi-Sharh Qatr al-Nada, an explanatory work on Ibn Hisham al-Ansari's Qatr al-Nada wa-Ball al-Sada, based on lessons he delivered in the mosque between 1415 AH and 1417 AH; it focuses on practical parsing (i'rab) of Quranic verses and poetic citations while avoiding peripheral theoretical disputes. In hadith jurisprudence, he authored the multi-volume Minhat al-Allam fi Sharh Bulugh al-Maram, providing systematic legal analysis and source documentation for the legal traditions compiled in Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani's Bulugh al-Maram.
