Scholarly Activities and Method
His full name is Abd Allah ibn Ali ibn Abd Allah al-Azab . He studied hadith literature under Shaykh Abd al-Aziz ibn Abd al-Hamid al-Faris, who reviewed his writings and commended his diligence in assembling and organizing hadith material .
Al-Azab's scholarly efforts focus on classifying and indexing chains of transmission (asānīd) to facilitate memorization and study for students of hadith . In al-Salasīl al-Mukhtāra min Sahīh al-Imām al-Bukhārī ("Selected Transmission Chains from Sahih al-Bukhari"), he grouped narrations sharing identical recurring pathways, repeating the full chain with every entry to reinforce retention . He also compiled Rubāʿīyāt wa-Thumāniyāt al-Imām al-Bukhārī ("The Four- and Eight-Narrator Chains of Imam al-Bukhari"), which brings together elevated four-narrator chains alongside longer eight-narrator chains from the same canonical collection . Both compilations were published in Riyadh in 1441 AH (circa 2019–2020 CE) through the patronage of Muhammad ibn Ibrahim al-Faris .
