Abd al-Aziz bin Dawud al-Fayiz (fl. 1415 AH / 1994–1995 CE) is a Saudi religious scholar and author based in al-Zulfi, known for his explanatory commentary on Abd al-Aziz ibn Baz's foundational instructional treatise al-Durus al-muhimmah li-ammat al-ummah (Important Lessons for the General Public) .
Scholarly Activity and Commentary
After examining Ibn Baz's concise primer al-Durus al-muhimmah li-ammat al-ummah, which addresses theology, jurisprudence, ethics, and prohibitions, al-Fayiz resolved to write a commentary on it . Following consultations with fellow scholars, he sought and received permission from Ibn Baz to compose the explanation .
Al-Fayiz titled the resulting work al-Ahkam al-mulimmah 'ala al-durus al-muhimmah li-ammat al-ummah (Comprehensive Rulings on the Important Lessons for the General Public), designing it to be moderate in length and accessible for mosque imams, household heads, and students of knowledge . In it, he corroborated legal and doctrinal points with textual evidence from the Quran and the Sunnah . Ibn Baz reviewed the work and appended his own annotations, which al-Fayiz distinguished with underlines in the published text . Al-Fayiz completed the work's introduction in al-Zulfi in 1415 AH .
