Thiqat al-Muslim billah Taala fi Daw al-Kitab wa al-Sunna (The Muslim's Trust in God Almighty in Light of the Book and the Sunnah) is a theological and ethical treatise by Muhammad ibn Ibrahim al-Rumi that examines the Islamic concept of reliance and confidence in God (Allah).

Purpose and Scope

The work addresses trust in God (al-thiqah bi-Allah) as an essential obligation, an inner worship of the heart, and a foundational element of sound creed (aqidah). Al-Rumi discusses relying on God to attain benefits, avert harms, secure sustenance, gain victory over adversaries, and seek healing. He explains that trust in God does not mean abandoning practical means (al-asbab) or accepting passivity; rather, it requires exerting all necessary efforts for an endeavor while entrusting the realization of outcomes entirely to God.

Structure and Method

The book is structured into an introduction, a preliminary section, six core chapters (mabahith), and a conclusion:

  • Preliminary Section (Tamhid): The importance of trust in God in the life of a Muslim.
  • Chapter 1: The Muslim's trust in God regarding the answering of supplication (istijabat al-dua).
  • Chapter 2: The Muslim's trust in God regarding the relief of distress (tafrij al-kurubat).
  • Chapter 3: The Muslim's trust in God regarding the guarantee of provision (al-takafful bi-l-rizq).
  • Chapter 4: The Muslim's trust in God in calling to His path (al-dawah ila Allah).
  • Chapter 5: The Muslim's trust in God regarding victory over enemies (al-nasr ala al-ada).
  • Chapter 6: The Muslim's trust in God regarding the fulfillment of His divine promise (infadh wadihi).

Al-Rumi bases his arguments on Quranic texts, authentic prophetic hadith, scholarly commentaries, and reports transmitted from the early generations (al-salaf al-salih). The conclusion summarizes the main findings, noting how trust in God instills courage and perseverance in religious outreach and provides peace of mind across all facets of life.
