Tathir al-Jinan wa al-Qawaid al-Arba wa Manhaj al-Salikin (Purification of the Hearts, The Four Principles, and The Path of the Wayfarers) is a composite compilation comprising three instructional treatises in Islamic creed and jurisprudence by multiple scholars .

Structure and Contents

The collection brings together three distinct instructional works:

  • Tathir al-Jinan wa-l-Arkan 'an Adran al-Shirk wa-l-Kufran by Ahmad ibn Hajar Al Bu Tami, the judge of the Sharia Court in Qatar . The treatise addresses Islamic theology (aqidah), specifically defining the three divisions of monotheism: tawhid al-rububiyyah (the lordship of God), tawhid al-uluhiyyah (divine worship), and tawhid al-asma wa-l-sifat (names and attributes) . It emphasizes tawhid al-uluhiyyah, the scope of worship, the history and causes of polytheism (shirk) stemming from excessive veneration of righteous figures (ghuluww), and refutations of grave-related innovations and calling upon intermediaries . The author noted that he was motivated to compose it after a visit from Shaykh 'Abd al-Hamid al-Bakri al-Saylani, who reported facing difficulties in Sri Lanka while calling people away from superstitions, and mentioned its translation into Malayalam by Muhammad Salim Miran al-Malibari .

  • Al-Qawaid al-Arba by Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab (d. 1206 AH / 1792 CE) . A short theological text presenting four foundational principles extracted from the Quran to delineate the boundaries of monotheism and polytheism, demonstrating that acknowledging God as creator and sustainer does not alone grant entry into Islam without directing worship exclusively to Him .

  • Manhaj al-Salikin wa-Tawdih al-Fiqh fi al-Din by Abd al-Rahman ibn Nasir al-Sadi (d. 1376 AH / 1956 CE) . A concise manual of Islamic jurisprudence combining legal rulings with their primary textual proofs from the Quran, the Sunnah, consensus (ijma), and valid analogy (qiyas), focusing on preferred opinions without excessive elongation .
