Tasmiyat ma ruwiya an al-Fadl ibn Dukayn (also known as Tasmiyat ma intaha ilayna min al-ruwat an Abi Nuaym al-Fadl ibn Dukayn aliyan; "Naming of What Has Reached Us of the Transmitters from Abu Nuaym al-Fadl ibn Dukayn with Elevated Chains") is a specialized hadith monograph by the hadith master and historian Abu Nuaym al-Asbahani (336–430 AH / 948–1038 CE) . The work is dedicated to enumerating the narrators who transmitted hadith directly from the renowned Kufan hadith scholar Abu Nuaym al-Fadl ibn Dukayn (d. 219 AH / 834 CE) through elevated transmission routes (uluww) .
Scope and Content
The treatise belongs to the genre of transmitter catalogs (ajza' fi al-ruwat) focused on a single prominent hadith authority. Abu Nuaym al-Asbahani gathered biographical entries and sample narrations of scholars and family members who reported from al-Fadl ibn Dukayn, documenting the chains through which these reports reached his own generation . Among the transmitters documented in the text is al-Fadl ibn Dukayn's daughter, Saliha bint Abi Nuaym, whom the author recorded under her own entry along with her reports from her father .
Manuscripts and Editions
Manuscripts of the text are preserved in the Zahiriyya Library in Damascus, including copies cataloged under manuscript compendiums Majmu' 24 (folios 169–176) and Hadith 387 (folios 50–56, dated 574 AH) .
The work has been edited by Abd Allah ibn Yusuf al-Juday' and published in Saudi Arabia by Matabi' al-Rashid in Medina and Dar al-Asima in Riyadh (1409 AH / 1988 CE) .
