Tadhkirat Uli al-Nuha wal-Irfan bi-Ayyam Allah al-Wahid al-Dayyan wa Dhikr Hawadith al-Zaman (A Reminder for the Mindful and Knowing of the Days of God, the One, the Requiter, and an Account of the Events of Time) is a multi-volume chronicle of Arabian and Najdi history written by the Saudi scholar and historian Ibrahim bin Ubayd Al Abd al-Muhsin (d. 1425 AH / 2004 CE) .

Scope and Contents

The work chronicles historical events, political developments, and obituaries in the Arabian Peninsula—particularly Najd—continuing the historiographical tradition of earlier regional historians such as Husayn ibn Ghannam, Uthman ibn Bishr, and Abd al-Rahman al-Jabarti . The author described the chronicle as addressing both worldly and religious affairs, incorporating historical reports, literary excerpts, poetic selections reflecting Najdi history, and biographical entries of rulers, notable figures, and scholars . In compiling the material, he stated his commitment to fairness, accuracy, and reporting verified accounts without exaggeration or omission .

Chronological Structure

The chronicle begins with an introductory overview, followed by a biography of Muhammad bin Abd al-Wahhab and an introduction to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, after which it organizes entries chronologically year by year :

  • Volume 1: Starts chronicling from the year 1268 AH and extends through 1319 AH .
  • Volume 2: Covers the period from 1320 AH to 1339 AH .
  • Volume 3: Covers the years 1340 AH through 1352 AH .
  • Volume 4: Begins from 1352 AH and concludes in 1372 AH .
  • Volume 5: Spans from 1373 AH to 1384 AH .
  • Volume 6: Covers from 1384 AH to the conclusion of 1385 AH .
  • Volumes 7 and 8: Resume from the year 1410 AH onwards .

The final historical entry documented in the chronicle before the author ceased writing was the death of the scholar Muhammad bin Salih al-Uthaymin in 1421 AH (2001 CE), whose biography the author left unfinished .
