Tadhkir al-Akhyar bi Fadail al-Makth fi Makan Ada al-Salah wa Qiraat al-Adhkar (Reminding the Righteous of the Virtues of Remaining in the Place of Prayer and Reciting Adhkar) is a contemporary treatise on devotional acts and supplications by Abd al-Razzaq bin Fadil al-Rubayi . The work focuses on the spiritual virtues, legal rulings, and prescribed supplications associated with remaining seated in one's place of prayer after completing the ritual prayer .

Purpose and Scope

The author composed the treatise to encourage Muslims to revive the practice of lingering in their prayer spots to engage in the remembrance of God (dhikr) and to counter the widespread habit of rushing out of the mosque immediately after completing the prayer . The text gathers scriptural evidence from the Quran, prophetic hadith, statements of early authorities, and legal verdicts (fatawa) clarifying the merits of these supplications for both imams and congregants .

Structure and Contents

The treatise is organized into an introduction, four main chapters, a conclusion, and an index :

  • Chapter One: Encouragement to remember God and warning against heedlessness (al-Targhib fi dhikr Allah wa-l-tarhib min al-ghaflah 'anh). It is divided into two sections covering the command to engage in abundant remembrance, the virtues of dhikr as an attribute of prophets and righteous people, and warnings against turning away from God's remembrance .
  • Chapter Two: Sitting in the place of prayer (al-Julus fi makan al-salah). Considered by the author to be the primary objective of the book, this chapter examines the immense reward earned by the worshiper, for whom the angels pray and seek forgiveness, on the condition that one avoids invalidating ritual purity (hadath) and refrains from harming others with tongue or hand . It also addresses the virtues of staying in the mosque to attend lessons, sermons, and Quran study circles .
  • Chapter Three: Prescribed supplications after prayer and their rewards (al-Adhkar al-mashru'ah ba'd al-salah wa-thawabuhunna). It compiles the established formulas transmitted from the Prophet ﷺ, such as seeking forgiveness (istighfar), glorification (tasbih), praise (tahmid), magnification (takbir), declaration of God's oneness (tahlil), reciting Ayat al-Kursi and the protective chapters (al-Mu'awwidhat), as well as specific supplications following obligatory prayers .
  • Chapter Four: A compilation of legal rulings and relevant fatwas concerning the manner of dhikr and supplication after the prayer for both the congregation and the imam .

Method and Editions

The author relies on authentic hadiths referenced from classical collections, appending scholarly commentary from figures such as Ibn Battal, al-Nawawi, Ibn Taymiyyah, Ibn al-Qayyim, and Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani .

The second edition was prepared by the author in al-Dhakhira and dated 14 Sha'ban 1443 AH / March 2022 CE . The author noted that this edition differed from the first primarily by minor organizational adjustments and by modifying the discussion on adding the phrase رَبِّ الْمَلَائِكَةِ وَالرُّوحِ (Lord of the angels and the Spirit) after the Witr prayer, where he opted to cite the fatwa of the Permanent Committee for Scholarly Research and Ifta chaired by Abd al-Aziz ibn Baz alongside the statements of al-Shawkani .
