Silsilat Mahasin al-Ta'wil (Arabic: سلسلة محاسن التأويل, lit. 'The Beauties of Interpretation Series') is a Quranic exegesis (tafsir) lecture series delivered by the contemporary Saudi preacher Salih al-Maghamsi (Salih ibn 'Awwad al-Maghamsi) .
Overview and Structure
The work originated as a collection of recorded audio lectures that were subsequently transcribed and published in written form by the Islamweb website (al-Shabaka al-Islamiyya) . The transcribed compilation consists of 73 lessons, arranged sequentially with each lesson formatted as a distinct part .
Content and Methodology
Al-Maghamsi delineated his methodology in Mahasin al-Ta'wil in contrast to another of his Quranic lecture series, Ta'ammulat Qur'aniyya (Quranic Reflections); whereas in Ta'ammulat Qur'aniyya he chose selected verses from each chapter, in Mahasin al-Ta'wil his approach was to address the surahs in full .
The transcribed series covers exegeses of several Quranic chapters, including:
- Surat al-Baqarah
- Surat al-An'am
- Surat al-Isra'
- Surat al-Kahf
- Surat Taha
- Surat al-Nur
Throughout the lessons, the author examines legal rulings, narrative accounts of earlier prophets, moral admonitions, and theological meanings conveyed by the verses, engaging with classical exegetical scholarship such as that of Jamal al-Din al-Qasimi .
