Sharh al-Aqida al-Wasitiyya min Kalam Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyya is a theological commentary on Ibn Taymiyya's creedal treatise al-Aqida al-Wasitiyya, compiled and arranged by Khalid ibn Abd Allah al-Muslih .
Background and Objective
Al-Aqida al-Wasitiyya serves as a concise summary of the creedal positions that Ibn Taymiyya articulated across his broader corpus . Considering that the author was best suited to elucidate his own treatise, al-Muslih designed the commentary to explain the concise statements and core objectives of al-Wasitiyya directly through Ibn Taymiyya's own extensive writings . The author completed the compilation on 9 Rabi al-Thani 1421 AH in Unayzah, al-Qasim .
Method and Sources
The author gathered, selected, and arranged relevant passages from various works of Ibn Taymiyya, structuring them sentence by sentence alongside the base text of al-Wasitiyya . Quotations from Ibn Taymiyya's writings—predominantly transmitted verbatim and, in rare instances, paraphrased—are provided with specific citations to their source works . In cases where direct statements by Ibn Taymiyya were not found on a given point, the compiler drew upon the works of his student Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyya, and in a few instances cited passages from Abd al-Rahman ibn Nasir al-Sa'di .
Publication
The work was published in a single volume comprising 216 pages, with its first edition issued in 1421 AH (2000 CE) by Dar Ibn al-Jawzi in Dammam .
