Nuskhat Abi Mushir wa Ghayrihi (Arabic: نسخة أبي مسهر وغيره, lit. 'The Hadith Tract of Abu Mushir and Others') is an early collection of hadith transmissions and reports attributed to the Syrian scholar and traditionist Abu Mushir al-Ghassani (140–218 AH / 757–833 CE) alongside narrations from other authorities .
Transmission and Structure
The tract primarily preserves hadith narrations received from Abu Mushir Abd al-A'la ibn Mushir al-Ghassani as well as other contemporary scholars, notably Yahya ibn Salih al-Wuhazi . Its primary chain of transmission passes through Abu Bakr Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Qasim al-Hashimi (known as Ibn al-Rawwas), who recorded that he attended Abu Mushir's gatherings at the age of eleven . From Ibn al-Rawwas, the work was transmitted by Abu al-Qasim al-Fadl ibn Ja'far al-Tamimi al-Mu’adhdhin .
In bibliographic and transmission records such as Muhammad ibn Sulayman al-Rudani's Silat al-khalaf bi-mawsul al-salaf, the work is recorded under the combined transmission of Abu Mushir and Yahya ibn Salih al-Wuhazi through al-Fadl ibn Ja'far al-Tamimi .
Scholarly Reception and Citations
The text was transmitted among later hadith scholars and cited across several classical reference works. Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani noted receiving the work with an elevated chain of transmission (bi-'uluww) through al-Fadl ibn Ja'far . Individual reports from the collection were quoted by biographers and hadith scholars, including Shams al-Din al-Dhahabi in Siyar a'lam al-nubala' and Taj al-Din al-Subki in his Mu'jam .
Publication
The work has been edited by Majdi Fathi al-Sayyid and published by Dar al-Sahabah li-l-Turath in Tanta, Egypt (1410 AH / 1989 CE), with Nuskhat Yahya ibn Salih al-Wuhazi included alongside it .
