Musnad Hadith Malik (Arabic: مسند حديث مالك) is a hadith compilation by the Maliki jurist and judge al-Qadi Ismail ibn Ishaq al-Jahdami (199/200–282 AH / 815–896 CE) that brings together the traditions narrated through Malik ibn Anas .

Scope and Scholarly Context

During the third century AH, scholars took significant interest in documenting and verifying the hadith corpus of Malik ibn Anas, gathering his narrations from his famous legal and hadith collection, al-Muwatta, as well as from his wider transmissions . As noted by al-Qadi Iyad, Ismail al-Qadi contributed extensively to this tradition, producing Musnad Hadith Malik alongside his own arranged Muwatta through his transmission lines to Malik, as well as his work Shawahid al-Muwatta . Early bio-bibliographical sources, including al-Khatib al-Baghdadi and Ibn Nuqta, record his collection of Malik's hadiths as one of his major hadith endeavors .

Transmission and Modern Publication

The work survived through the Andalusian transmission of Muhammad ibn Abd Allah ibn al-Hasan ibn Abi al-Manzur al-Andalusi . It was edited by Miklos Muranyi and published by Dar al-Gharb al-Islami in 2002 .
