Muntaqa Hadith Abi Abd Allah Muhammad ibn Makhlad (Selection from the Hadith of Abu Abd Allah Muhammad ibn Makhlad) is a collection of selected Prophetic traditions and narrations transmitted by the Baghdadi hadith master Abu Abd Allah Muhammad ibn Makhlad al-Attar (d. 331 AH / 943 CE) .

Transmission and Structure

The preserved text is designated as the second part (al-juzʾ al-thānī) of the selection from Ibn Makhlad's hadith . The transmission chain recorded in the opening passes from Ibn Makhlad to Abu Umar Abd al-Wahid ibn Muhammad ibn Abd Allah ibn Mahdi al-Farisi, then to Abu al-Husayn Asim ibn al-Hasan ibn Muhammad ibn Ali, and subsequently to the reciter Abu al-Fawaris Hibat Allah ibn Ahmad ibn Abd Allah ibn Sawwar . A reading certificate documented at the beginning states that the text was recited to Abu al-Fawaris Hibat Allah ibn Sawwar at his residence in the caliphal quarters (Dar al-Khilafah) in Baghdad on 9 Muharram 541 AH, following his hearing of the text from Asim ibn al-Hasan in Ramadan 481 AH .
