Mukaffirat al-Dhunub wa Mujibat al-Jannah ("Expiators of Sins and Requisites of Paradise") is a hadith treatise on acts of devotion that expiate sins and lead to salvation, compiled by the Yemeni scholar and historian Ibn al-Dayba' al-Shaybani (866–944 AH / 1461–1537 CE) .
Composition and Titles
Ibn al-Dayba' authored the treatise after studying hadith literature under his teacher, Zayn al-Din Abu al-'Abbas Ahmad ibn Ahmad ibn 'Abd al-Latif al-Sharji, from whom he learned the craft and methods of book composition and compilation .
In classical biographical and bibliographical dictionaries, the work is primarily recorded under its full rhyming title, Ghayat al-Matlub wa-A'zam al-Minnah fima Yaghfiru Allahu bihi al-Dhunub wa-Yujibu al-Jannah ("The Ultimate Quest and Greatest Favor Regarding That Through Which God Forgives Sins and Grants Paradise") . In Kashf al-Zunun, Hajji Khalifa registers the work under this title (with the minor variant A'zam al-Minyah), attributing it to 'Abd al-Rahman ibn 'Ali al-Zabidi (Ibn al-Dayba') .
