Mudhakkirat al-Tawhid (Memorandum on Monotheism) is a theological treatise by the scholar Abd al-Razzaq Afifi (d. 1415 AH / 1994 CE; also reported as 1419 AH) outlining fundamental issues of Islamic creed.

Contents and Themes

The work is structured as a collection of treatises addressing key theological topics:

  • Rational and textual proofs establishing the existence of God.
  • The categories of tawhid (monotheism). Afifi defines tawhid linguistically as "making the multiple one" and the belief that something is singular and unique, and religiously as affirming God's exclusivity in lordship (rububiyyah), divinity (ilahiyyah), and the perfection of His names and attributes (al-asma wa-l-sifat). He defines its objective and benefit as rectifying belief, securing safety in ultimate outcomes, and attaining happiness in both this world and the hereafter.
  • The divisions and modes of divine revelation.
  • The doctrinal distinction between a prophet (nabi) and a messenger (rasul).
  • The categories of miracles (mu'jizat).
  • The optimal methodology for Islamic propagation and calling people to God (al-da'wah ila Allah).

Publications

The book has been printed across several editions, including:

  • An edition published by al-Maktab al-Islami in Beirut in 1403 AH (1983 CE).
  • A first edition issued by Dar al-Watan in 1413 AH (1992–1993 CE).
  • A first edition published by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Endowments, Da'wah and Guidance in Saudi Arabia in 1420 AH (1999–2000 CE).
