Min Ajaib al-Dua – al-Juz al-Thani (The Wonders of Supplication – Part Two) is a compilation of accounts of answered prayers by Khalid ibn Sulayman al-Rubai, published by Dar al-Qasim in Riyadh in 1425 AH (2004 CE).

Purpose and Scope

Following the first volume published in 1422 AH—which contained 165 stories across 104 pages—the second volume spans 184 pages and compiles a further 212 accounts of answered supplication. The author stated that the work was intended not merely for entertainment, but as an encouragement for readers to engage in persistent and frequent supplication in all matters of this world and the hereafter.

Structure and Methodology

The book is organized into seven primary sections:

  1. Introduction (al-Muqaddima): Outlines the purpose and content of the volume.
  2. Scholarly Statements on Supplication (Min Kalam al-Ulama an al-Dua): Details the virtues, conditions, and etiquette of supplication, citing classical scholars such as Ibn al-Qayyim, Yahya ibn Mu'adh al-Razi, Abu Hazim al-A'raj, and al-Dhahabi.
  3. Supplications of the Prophet (Min Daawat al-Rasul): Examines recorded prayers of the Islamic Prophet Muhammad.
  4. Stories (al-Qisas): Comprises 212 accounts, arranged chronologically from the prayers of the Prophet and his Companions (Sahaba) through the early generations to the contemporary era. For classical historical accounts, the author cites his sources; for modern accounts, he relies on direct reports from those involved or other documented references.
  5. Biographies (al-Tarazim): Provides short biographical profiles for most individuals mentioned, drawn primarily from al-Dhahabi's Tarikh al-Islam and Siyar A'lam al-Nubala'. The author notes this was done so readers would not need to consult external sources to understand the circumstances of the individuals and to extract moral lessons from their lives.
  6. References (al-Maraji'): Details the editions, publishers, and editors of the works cited.
  7. Index (al-Fihris): The thematic index of the volume.

Reception

The book includes a commendation (taqriz) by A'id al-Qarni, who praised the compilation of reports, stories, and historical accounts, noting that the work encourages dedication to prayer and seeking refuge in God.
