Majmuat al-Rasail wa al-Masail al-Najdiyya (al-Juz al-Awwal) (The Collection of Najdi Treatises and Legal Rulings, Volume One) is the opening volume of a multi-part compendium of theological treatises, legal responsa, and letters authored by prominent scholars of the Najdi reform movement .

Publication and Overview

The volume was published in its first edition in 1346 AH (1928 CE) by Matba'at al-Manar in Cairo, printed at the order and expense of King Abd al-Aziz Al Saud as a religious endowment (waqf) . The publication was edited, overseen, and annotated with explanatory footnotes by the Islamic scholar and publisher Muhammad Rashid Rida .

Structure and Contents

The first volume is arranged into three distinct sections (aqsam), grouped primarily by the authorship and lineage of the contributing scholars:

  • Section One (al-Qism al-Awwal): Contains treatises and fatwas by Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab and his sons . The texts address foundational theological doctrines, including explanations of the reality of Islam, creedal declarations, and discussions on the Divine attributes (ayat al-sifat) by his son Abdullah ibn Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab .
  • Section Two (al-Qism al-Thani): Comprises correspondence, treatises, and legal rulings authored by the grandsons of Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab, prominently featuring the writings of Abd al-Rahman ibn Hasan Al al-Shaykh .
  • Section Three (al-Qism al-Thalith): Features writings and legal answers by prominent Najdi scholars outside the immediate family lineage of Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab, specifically focusing on the jurisprudence and responsa of Hamad ibn Nasir ibn Mu'ammar across diverse matters of Islamic law .
