Majmu'at al-Hadith 'ala Abwab al-Fiqh (مجموعة الحديث على أبواب الفقه, "Collection of Hadith Arranged by Chapters of Jurisprudence") is a compendium of legal traditions compiled by the Najdi scholar Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab (1115–1206 AH / 1703–1792 CE) to provide the scriptural hadith evidence underlying various areas of Islamic jurisprudence.

Content and Structure

The work gathers legal hadiths and non-prophetic traditions (athar), arranged thematically across the standard legal headings followed by jurists, encompassing both acts of worship (ʿibādāt) and interpersonal transactions (muʿāmalāt). The collection contains approximately 4,600 traditions, totaling 4,551 hadiths in its standard printed edition.

The compilation opens with the Book of Purification (Kitāb al-Ṭahārah), where the author places the tradition of the Well of Buḍāʿah (Biʾr Buḍāʿah) as its opening narration—diverging from other well-known legal hadith collections such as al-Muntaqā, al-Muḥarrar, and Bulūgh al-Marām, which begin with the narration concerning sea water. The collection covers the full spectrum of legal categories down to judicial procedure and methods of proof, before concluding with the sections on claims and evidences (al-Daʿāwā wa-l-Bayyināt), testimonies (al-Shahādāt), an omnibus chapter (al-Jāmiʿ), and a concluding section devoted to medicine (al-Ṭibb).

Methodology and Publication

The compiler’s method relies on citing hadiths and traditions alongside references to their original source collections. In addition to quoting the texts, he frequently incorporates the critical evaluations and judgments of earlier hadith scholars regarding the authenticity and status of the narrations.

Originally preserved in manuscript, the work was published in four volumes by Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud Islamic University as part of a project aimed at documenting and publishing the complete works of Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab.
