Majlis min Amali Tirad al-Zaynabi (A Dictation Session from the Dictations of Tirad al-Zaynabi) is a short hadith compilation documenting an oral dictation session delivered by the Abbasid scholar and syndic of the Hashimites, Tirad al-Zaynabi (398–491 AH / 1007–1098 CE) .
Background and Dictation
Tirad al-Zaynabi held multiple hadith dictation gatherings in Mecca, Medina, and Baghdad, where he dictated twenty-five sessions at the Mosque of al-Mansur (Jami' al-Mansur) . Various individual sessions or selections from these dictations circulated independently among hadith transmitters and scholars .
This specific session was dictated directly by Tirad al-Zaynabi on Friday, 10 Sha'ban 476 AH (1084 CE) at the City Mosque (Jami' al-Madina) by the gate of Saqayat al-Radi Billah in Baghdad .
Content and Transmission
The session opens with a hadith transmitted by Tirad from Abu al-Hasan Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn Rizqawayh al-Bazzaz, tracing back through Sufyan ibn Uyaynah and Mujahid to the Companion Abd Allah ibn Mas'ud, who reported that when the Prophet ﷺ entered Mecca, there were 360 idols surrounding the Ka'ba, and he began prodding them with his hand or with a stick, reciting: جَاء الْحَقُّ وَمَا يُبْدِئُ الْبَاطِلُ وَمَا يُعِيد ("Truth has come, and falsehood can neither originate anything nor resurrect it") .
The text was audited from Tirad al-Zaynabi by Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Abd al-Qahir al-Tusi alongside his two sons, Abu Abd Allah Muhammad and Abu Muhammad Abd al-Rahman al-Tusi . It was subsequently transmitted in Mosul by the preacher Abu al-Qasim Abd al-Muhsin ibn Abd Allah al-Tusi through his uncle Abd al-Rahman al-Tusi (with an auditory record dated 546 AH), and was heard from Abd al-Muhsin in Dhu al-Qi'da 605 AH by Abu Ahmad Bawzan ibn Sunqur al-Rumi and his son Abu Nasr Ahmad . The manuscript of this session forms the first part of volume 37 in the al-Majami' al-Umariyyah collection, concluding on folio 5b .
