Majalis Ibn al-Qasim allati saala 'anha Malikan (The Sessions of Ibn al-Qasim in Which He Questioned Malik) is an early Maliki work of legal questions (su'alat) transmitted by Ibn al-Qasim (d. 191 AH / 806 CE) from his teacher Malik ibn Anas (d. 179 AH / 795 CE), focusing on jurisprudence related to ritual purity and prayer .

Scope and Content

It treats issues such as additions and omissions during prayer, methods of compensating for inadvertent mistakes, the validity of prayer, ablution (wudu'), major ritual impurity (janabah), the ritual bath (ghusl), dry ablution (tayammum), leading congregational prayer, and cases involving doubtful purity or contact with impurities .

The text is organized in a direct question-and-answer format, predominantly opening with the formula: "Ibn al-Qasim said: I said to Malik..." (قال ابن القاسم: قلت لمالك), followed by a case scenario and Malik's legal response .

The primary core of the text comprises 109 numbered questions, culminating with a concluding formula marking the completion of the Majalis . In certain manuscript transmissions, additions are appended at the end, extending the text with supplementary questions numbered 110 and 111 .
