The work circulated widely among hadith specialists across several transmission lines. A primary transmission pathway passed through Abu Sa'id Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Ziyad Ibn al-A'rabi in Mecca, and from him through Abu Muhammad Abd al-Rahman ibn Umar ibn al-Nahhas al-Misri, through whom it was transmitted to the Shafi'i jurist and scholar Abu al-Hasan Ali ibn al-Hasan al-Khala'i and Abu Muhammad Abd Allah ibn Rifa'ah al-Sa'di . Another prominent transmission was preserved through the Baghdadi traditionist Isma'il ibn Muhammad al-Saffar from Sa'dan ibn Nasr, which was subsequently read and transmitted by later scholars such as Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani and Salah al-Din al-Ala'i .
