Transmission and Content
The text forms part of the hadith corpus handed down from Ibn Shahin by the Abbasid prince and traditionist Abu al-Husayn Ibn al-Muhtadi bi-Llah . Multiple distinct paths of transmission branch out from Ibn al-Muhtadi, including:
- A recension narrated through Abu al-Fadl Muhammad ibn Umar al-Urmawi . In the transmission documented by Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani, this version opens with a hadith from Abd Allah ibn Umar concerning the raising of the hands (raf al-yadayn) during prayer .
- A recension narrated through Abu al-Su'ud Ahmad ibn Ali ibn al-Mujli from Abu al-Husayn Ibn al-Muhtadi .
- A transmission documented through Abu Mansur Abd al-Rahman ibn Muhammad al-Qazzaz from Abu al-Husayn Ibn al-Muhtadi from Ibn Shahin .
Manuscripts and Printed Editions
A manuscript copy of the part transmitted via Ibn al-Muhtadi is preserved in the Zahiriyya Library in Damascus within the composite volume Majmu 71 (of the Umariyya collections) .
The work has been published in modern editions based on its distinct lines of transmission:
- The recension of Abu al-Su'ud ibn al-Mujli from Ibn al-Muhtadi was edited by Badr ibn Abd Allah al-Badr and published by Dar Ibn al-Athir in Kuwait (1415 AH / 1994 CE) as part of a collection of Ibn Shahin's treatises (Min Musannafat Ibn Shahin) .
