Juz min Hadith al-Kilabi (جزء من حديث الكلابي, A Hadith Part from the Transmissions of al-Kilabi) is a collection of prophetic traditions transmitted by the Damascus-based hadith scholar Abu al-Husayn al-Kulabi (d. 396 AH / 1005 CE) from his teachers.

Transmission and Content

The work consists of hadiths that Abu al-Husayn Abd al-Wahhab ibn al-Hasan ibn al-Walid al-Kilabi—known as Akhi Tabuk (the brother of Tabuk)—narrated on the authority of Syrian and regional traditionists, including Ibn Jawsa, Abu Bakr Muhammad ibn Khuraym al-Uqayli, and Abu al-Abbas Tahir ibn Muhammad al-Tamimi.

The text was preserved through multiple transmission routes (riwayāt):

  • The narration of Abu al-Husayn Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn Hasnun al-Narsi, who heard it directly from al-Kilabi in Damascus in Jumada al-Akhirah 393 AH. It passed down through Qadi Abu Bakr Muhammad ibn Abd al-Baqi al-Ansari to Abu Hafs Umar ibn Muhammad ibn Tabarzadh.
  • The narration of Abu al-Abbas Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Yusuf ibn Mardah.
  • The narration transmitted through al-Husayn ibn Muhammad al-Hinna'i.

The compilation opens with a tradition on the authority of Anas ibn Malik recounting the Prophet's ﷺ entry into Mecca on the day of the Conquest wearing an iron helmet (al-mighfar), and historical bibliographical entries note that the part concludes with a report mentioning Wadi al-Qura.

Manuscripts and Publication

Copies of the work's transmissions have survived in the Zahiriyya Library in Damascus among the Majāmiʿ al-ʿUmariyyah collections (such as manuscript volumes 27 and 82). It was edited and annotated by Mashhur ibn Hasan Al Salman and published by al-Dar al-Athariyyah in 1427 AH / 2006 CE.
