Juz' Ma Rawahu al-Zubayr 'An Ghayr Jabir (The Monograph on What Abu al-Zubayr Narrated from Other than Jabir) is a specialized hadith monograph compiled by the traditionist Abu al-Shaykh al-Asbahani (d. 369 AH / 979 CE) .

Purpose and Content

The compilation belongs to the hadith genre of specialized single-narrator monographs (ajza'), which gathered the transmissions of well-known traditionists . While the Makkan Successor Abu al-Zubayr al-Makki (Muhammad ibn Muslim ibn Tadrus) was renowned for his extensive transmission from the Companion Jabir ibn 'Abd Allah, Abu al-Shaykh dedicated this work specifically to isolating and recording the reports that Abu al-Zubayr transmitted from authorities and Companions other than Jabir . These include his narrations from figures such as 'Abd Allah ibn 'Abbas, 'A'isha, and 'Abd Allah ibn 'Amr ibn al-'As .

Scholarly Citation and Transmission

Classical traditionists referenced the collection when examining variant transmission chains (takhrij) and evaluating subtle defects in narrations ('ilal). Ibn Hajar al-'Asqalani cited it in Muwafaqat al-Khabar al-Khabar when analyzing parallel tracks transmitted from Abu al-Zubayr through Sufyan al-Thawri and Ash'ath . Ibn al-Mulaqqin likewise cited Abu al-Shaykh's gathering of Abu al-Zubayr's non-Jabir narrations in al-Tawdih li-Sharh al-Jami' al-Sahih . Later hadith critics have also examined the text to evaluate questions surrounding Abu al-Zubayr's direct audition (sama') and concealment (tadlis) in narrations from authorities other than Jabir .

Publication

The work has been edited by Badr ibn 'Abd Allah al-Badr and published under the title Juz' fihi Ahadith Abi al-Zubayr 'an Ghayr Jabir by Maktabat al-Rushd in Riyadh (first edition, 1417 AH / 1996 CE) .
