Juz' fihi Majlisan min Imla' al-Nasai (Part Containing Two Dictation Sessions from al-Nasa'i) is a hadith tract (juz') by the hadith scholar Abu Abd al-Rahman al-Nasai (d. 303 AH / 915 CE; also recorded as 302 AH), documenting prophetic traditions transmitted through two of his personal dictation assemblies.
Transmission and Content
The text represents the sole transmission preserved from al-Nasa'i by Abu al-Abbas Abyad ibn Muhammad ibn Abyad al-Qurashi al-Fihri (293–377 AH / 906–987 CE), an Egyptian transmitter noted as the last surviving direct student of al-Nasa'i. From Abyad, the material was transmitted by scholars including Abd al-Ghani al-Azdi, Abd al-Malik ibn Miskin al-Shafi'i, and Yahya ibn Ali ibn al-Tahhan.
The tract consists of prophetic traditions dictated with full chains of transmission (asānīd) from al-Nasa'i's teachers, such as Muhammad ibn Abd al-Aziz ibn Abi Rizma al-Marwazi and Ahmad ibn Yahya. The included narrations address various legal, ethical, and medical subjects, including warnings against shedding blood and consuming unlawful food, recommendations regarding olive oil, and the treatment of fever with cold water.
Manuscripts and Publication
The work is preserved in a manuscript in the Zahiriyya Library in Damascus, spanning eight folios (fols. 238–246) within composite manuscript (majmūʿ) no. 30. It was edited and evaluated by Abu Ishaq al-Huwayni, published by Maktabat al-Tarbiyya al-Islamiyya (1st ed., 1414 AH / 1993 CE) and by Dar Ibn al-Jawzi in Dammam (1st ed., 1415 AH / 1994 CE).
