Juz Abu Aruba al-Harrani bi-Riwayat al-Hakim (Arabic: جزء أبي عروبة الحراني برواية الحاكم, also referred to as Ahadith Abi Aruba al-Harrani) is a hadith booklet (juzʾ) compiled from the transmissions of the traditionist Abu Aruba al-Harrani (d. 318 AH / 930 CE) as transmitted by the hadith master Abu Ahmad al-Hakim (285–378 AH / 898–988 CE) .

Transmission and Content

The work gathers narrations related by Abu Aruba al-Husayn ibn Muhammad ibn Abi Ma'shar Mawdud al-Sulami al-Jazari al-Harrani through his chains of transmission from his shaykhs . It represents the recension of these reports transmitted by Abu Ahmad al-Hakim al-Kabir, distinguishing it from another extant compilation of Abu Aruba's narrations transmitted by Abu al-Hasan Ali ibn al-Husayn ibn Bundar al-Antaki (known as Riwayat al-Antaki or Riwayat Ibn Bundar) . Hadith scholars and bibliographers cite specific prophetic traditions directly from this tract via Abu Ahmad al-Hakim's line of transmission .

Publication

The work was edited by Abd al-Rahim al-Qashqari under the title Ahadith Abi Aruba al-Harrani (Riwayat Abi Ahmad al-Hakim) and published in a single volume by Sharikat al-Riyad in Saudi Arabia (first edition, 1419 AH / 1998 CE) .
