Jami Turath al-Allama al-Albani fi al-Aqida (Arabic: جامع تراث العلامة الألباني في العقيدة, lit. 'Compendium of the Legacy of the Eminent Scholar al-Albani in Creed'), also titled Mawsuat al-Aqida (موسوعة العقيدة), is an encyclopedic reference compiling the theological rulings, statements, and doctrinal analyses of the hadith scholar Nasir al-Din al-Albani (d. 1420 AH / 1999 CE) . The work was compiled and arranged by the Yemeni researcher Shadi ibn Muhammad ibn Salim Al Numan .

Purpose and Scope

The compendium forms the inaugural work of a broader multi-part project titled Mawsuat al-Allama al-Imam Mujaddid al-Asr Muhammad Nasir al-Din al-Albani, designed to encompass over fifty specialized works and studies dedicated to al-Albani's scholarly legacy . The compiler prepared the work in Sanaa, Yemen, dating the completion of its introduction to 18 Safar 1431 AH / 2 February 2010 CE .

Al Numan sought to counter the perception among critics and readers who restricted al-Albani's expertise strictly to hadith grading and claimed that creed or jurisprudence should not be taken from him . By comprehensively surveying al-Albani's published treatises, critical editions, and recorded audio lectures, the compiler extracted nearly two thousand theological issues and doctrinal points of benefit (fawa'id 'aqadiyyah) .

Method and Structure

In preparing the compendium, the compiler collected all available writings of al-Albani, prioritizing newer editions to account for his revisions, additions, and retractions, while tracking down early printings issued over fifty years prior . The compilation draws extensively on the discipline of grouping thematic parallels (fann jam' al-naza'ir), categorizing scattered discussions by subject so that researchers can readily identify al-Albani's definitive stances . Citations extracted from audio tapes—such as the series Silsilat al-Huda wa-al-Nur and Rihlat al-Nur—are documented with exact minute-and-second timestamps .

The material in the encyclopedia is arranged across distinct thematic sections and books, including:

  • Sources of Derivation and Epistemology (Masadir al-istidlal 'inda Ahl al-Sunnah fi al-'aqidah), covering fundamental definitions and methodological principles of theology .
  • Divine Names and Attributes (Tawhid al-asma' wa-al-sifat), grouping together the interpretive rules of Ahl al-Sunnah, refutations of theological innovators, and discussions on intrinsic (dhatiyyah) and active (fi'liyyah) divine attributes .
  • Faith and Unbelief (al-Islam wa-al-Iman wa-al-Kufr) and theological excuses (Ahl al-A'dhar fi al-'aqidah) .
  • Divine Decree and Predestination (al-Iman bi-al-qada' wa-al-qadr) .
  • Eschatology and the Last Day (al-Yawm al-Akhir), ordered chronologically starting with death, the punishment and bliss of the grave, minor and major signs of the Hour, the resurrection, the plains of gathering, intercession, and descriptions of Paradise and Hellfire .

Reception and Translations

The creed section of the encyclopedia was published in approximately nine volumes through the Numan Center for Research, Studies, and Translation (Markaz al-Nu'man li-al-Buhuth wa-al-Dirasat wa-al-Tarjamah) . The project received endorsement from Salafi scholars, including Ali Hasan al-Halabi, who praised the effort to assemble and systemize al-Albani's dispersed teachings . Portions of the compendium have been translated into multiple languages, including English (by Ahmad Abu Turab al-Baritani), Indonesian, French, Spanish, Turkish, Albanian, and Chinese .
