Izat wa-Ibar min Ahadith Sayyid al-Bashar (Admonitions and Lessons from the Hadiths of the Master of Humanity) is an ethical and hortatory treatise composed by the Algerian-born scholar and teacher at the Prophet's Mosque in Medina, Abu Bakr al-Jazairi (d. 1439 AH / 2018 CE) .
Composition and Purpose
The treatise was completed by Abu Bakr al-Jazairi on 20 Jumada al-Akhirah 1420 AH (October 1, 1999 CE) in Medina . The author conceived it as a work of preaching and spiritual guidance intended for believers seeking the pleasure of God and salvation in the hereafter . In his conclusion, al-Jazairi urged students of religious knowledge to read the treatise, memorize its prophetic traditions, put them into practice, and circulate their teachings among Muslims .
Structure and Methodology
The work brings together twenty prophetic hadiths selected from Sahih al-Bukhari, the majority of which are drawn from its Kitab al-Riqaq (The Book of Heart-Softening Traditions) .
For each tradition, the author provides the text of the hadith and systematically derives:
- Spiritual admonitions and reflective lessons (ʻiẓāt wa-ʻibar) that give the work its title .
- Legal rulings related to the text, detailing obligations, recommended practices, prohibited actions, and disliked matters .
- Principles of Islamic manners and moral conduct essential for daily religious life .
