Itharat al-Fawaid al-Majmuah fi al-Isharah ila al-Faraid al-Masmuah (Stirring Collected Benefits in Pointing to Transmitted Rare Gems) is a hadith compendium of transmitted texts and chains of transmission compiled by the Shafi'i scholar and hadith specialist Salah al-Din al-Alai (694–761 AH / 1295–1359 CE) .

Scope and Content

The work serves as a record of transmitted hadith compilations, thematic treatises (ajza'), and elevated isnads (asānīd) received by al-Ala'i through his teachers . It opens with narrations on the etiquette of praise and opening invocations, accompanied by isnads linking the author to earlier authorities through such figures as Sulayman ibn Hamza al-Maqdisi, Abu Bakr ibn Ahmad ibn Abd al-Daim, Ahmad ibn Abi Talib al-Hajjar, Wazirah bint Umar ibn Asad, and Hadiyyah bint Ali ibn Askar .

Throughout the text, al-Ala'i documents the transmission routes of extensive reference works and smaller hadith collections. Among the works cataloged are al-Tabarani's al-Mu‘jam al-Kabīr , al-Mi’ah al-‘Awālī from the narrations of Muhammad ibn Abi al-Fadl al-Farawi (extracted by his son Abd Allah) , and Fada’il al-Sahabah from the narrations of Trad al-Zaynabi (extracted by Abu Ali al-Bardani) .

Transmission and Certification

Al-Ala'i taught and certified the book in formal reading sessions concluded on Thursday, 16 Jumada al-Akhirah 743 AH (November 1342 CE) . The student Shihab al-Din Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Ibrahim ibn Hilal al-Maqdisi read the work aloud from the beginning up to the entry on al-Mu‘jam al-Kabīr, after which al-Ala'i personally read the remainder to the end of the text . Formal transmission certificates (ijāzāt) were granted to the attendees, including the visiting scholar Muhammad ibn Muhammad al-Hashimi al-Malaqi (known as al-Tanjali), the grammarian Muhammad ibn Muhammad ibn al-Yusr al-Bursi, and his son Abu al-Tahir Muhammad .

Publication

The work was edited by Marzuq ibn Hayas Al Marzuq al-Zahrani and published in two continuously paginated volumes by Maktabat al-Ulum wa-l-Hikam in Medina and Syria in 1425 AH (2004 CE) .
