Islam Zayd ibn Haritha wa Ghayrihi min Ahadith al-Shuyukh (The Conversion of Zayd ibn Haritha and Other Hadiths of the Teachers) is a specialized hadith collection (juz') compiled by the Damascene traditionist and hadith master Tamam ibn Muhammad al-Dimashqi (d. 414 AH / 1023 CE).

Author and Context

The compiler, Abu al-Qasim Tamam ibn Muhammad ibn Abd Allah ibn Ja'far al-Razi al-Dimashqi, was born in Damascus in 330 AH (or 339 AH according to another report) and died there on 3 Muharram 414 AH. Renowned as one of the premier authorities on Syrian hadith transmissions (hadith al-Shamiyyin) and evaluated as trustworthy and reliable (thiqa ma'mun), he compiled various thematic tracts and extensive collections of narrations (fawa'id).

Content and Transmission

The compilation centers around narrations transmitted by Tamam from his teachers, featuring prominently the lengthy historical and biographical report detailing the captivity, upbringing, and conversion to Islam of the early companion Zayd ibn Haritha alongside the conversion narrative of his father, Haritha ibn Sharahil.

Later biographical and hadith authorities, including Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani, referenced Tamam's preservation of this tradition, noting that it occupied around two folios in his narrations and was transmitted through a distinct family isnad traced via Abu 'Iqqal Hilal ibn Zayd from his father, grandfather, and back through Usama ibn Zayd to Zayd ibn Haritha.
