Hadith al-Silafi ‘an Hakim al-Kufa (The Narrations of al-Silafi on the Authority of the Judge of Kufa) is a specialized hadith tract (juz’) compiled by Abu Tahir al-Silafi (d. 576 AH / 1180 CE), transmitting chains and traditions from the judge of Kufa, Abu al-Husayn Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn Hamza al-Thaqafi (d. 497 AH / 1104 CE) .
Contents and Transmission
The collection preserves the narrations that Abu Tahir al-Silafi heard through Abu al-Husayn al-Thaqafi . Its material incorporates general scholarly narrations (fawa'id), the Musnad of Ibn Zaydan, and subsequent fawa'id traditions spanning various legal and devotional topics, with sequential numbering applied across the tract .
The work continued to be transmitted in audition records in later generations; for instance, the Alexandrian scholar Muhyi al-Din Abd al-Rahman ibn Makhluf al-Rib'i (d. 722 AH / 1322 CE) studied and received a portion of Hadith al-Silafi 'an Abi al-Husayn Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn Hamza al-Thaqafi hakim al-Kufa from his teacher Ali ibn Mukhtar .
Publication
The tract was edited by Muhammad Ziyad 'Umar Tuklah and published by Maktabat al-Ubaykan in Riyadh in 1421 AH / 2001 CE within the multi-volume compilation Jamharat al-Ajza' al-Hadithiyya (Compendium of Hadith Tracts) .
