- Syro-Mesopotamian narrations (1–27): The majority of the collection is received by Ibn Bujayr from Ali ibn Uthman ibn Nufayl al-Harrani in Harran, on the authority of Abu Mushir from Sa'id ibn Abd al-Aziz . These reports include legal and ascetic sayings of Mak-hul, reports regarding Ibn Shihab al-Zuhri and Abu al-Darda', historical accounts concerning early Umayyad figures, and Prophetic hadiths such as Umm Salama's narration regarding ablution after eating cooked food: توضؤوا مما مست النار ("Perform ablution from what fire has touched") .
- Anecdotes and poetry (28–29): Two reports narrated through Abd al-Aziz [ibn Ahmad], recording lines recited by Abd Allah ibn al-Mubarak on asceticism and his comments on a legal episode involving Harun al-Rashid and the jurist Abu Yusuf .
- Exegesis (30): A final narration received in Damascus from Abu Umayya Muhammad ibn Ibrahim, conveying a linguistic explanation of the Quranic verse هَلْ تُحِسُّ مِنْهُم مِّنْ أَحَدٍ (Surat Maryam: 98) .
