Fawaid al-Kufiyyin (al-Fawāʾid al-muntaqāh al-gharāʾib al-ḥisān ʿan al-shuyūkh al-Kūfiyyīn, "Selected Rare and Fine Benefits from the Kufan Scholars") is a hadith tract compiled by the hadith master and Quran reciter Abu al-Ghanaim al-Narsi (424–510 AH / 1033–1116 CE) .

Scope and Methodology

The work belongs to the fawa'id and ajza' genre of hadith literature, focusing specifically on narrations transmitted through the scholars and traditionists of Kufa . Al-Narsi structured the compilation around selected hadiths, unusual variants (ghara'ib), and transmissions sourced directly through Kufan chains and local teachers, exemplifying the regional methodology of fawa'id al-buldan collections where traditionists compiled benefits specific to a given locality . The book is distinguished from another work bearing a similar title, al-Fawa'id al-muntaqah wal-ghara'ib al-hisan 'an al-shuyukh al-Kufiyyin, which was narrated by Abu Abd Allah Muhammad ibn Ali al-Alawi (d. 445 AH) and selected by Abu Abd Allah al-Suri .

Manuscripts and Publication

Manuscript copies of the work have survived in several repositories, including the Zahiriyya Library in Damascus (under Majmu' 83, fols. 127–135, and Majmu' 78 / No. 3814, fols. 19–27), as well as holdings recorded in the al-Mahmudiyya Library in Medina . The book was edited by Abd al-Rahman Muhammad Sharif and published by Dar al-Diya' in 1425 AH / 2004 CE .
