Awali Malik Riwayat Abi al-Yaman al-Kindi (Arabic: عوالي مالك برواية أبي اليمن الكندي), fully titled al-Fawaʾid al-ʿawali al-muntaqat min hadith al-Imam Abi ʿAbd Allah Malik ibn Anas al-Asbahi, is a compilation of elevated (short-chained) narrations of Malik ibn Anas transmitted through the hadith scholar and grammarian Abu al-Yumn al-Kindi (d. 613 AH / 1217 CE) .

Composition and Transmission

The collection was extracted and compiled (takhrij) by the hadith specialist Ibn Nuqtah al-Baghdadi from the transmissions of Abu al-Yumn Zayd ibn al-Hasan al-Kindi . Its chains go back to Imam Malik through two of his prominent transmitters: Abu Asim al-Nabil (al-Dahhak ibn Makhlad) and Abd Allah ibn Maslamah al-Qanabi .

Structure and Content

The work belongs to the genre of specialized ʿawālī (restricted high-transmission collections), consisting of prophetic hadiths and non-prophetic reports (āthār) . It is arranged according to hadith beginnings (aṭrāf), though it does not strictly adhere to alphabetical order .

Manuscripts and Publication

A complete manuscript of the work is preserved in the al-Asad National Library in Damascus (MS 3767, ff. 89–101), transcribed by Ismaʿil ibn ʿAbd Allah in 613 AH and containing reading and audition certificates (samāʿāt) . The text was edited by Muhammad al-Hajj al-Nasir and published by Dar al-Gharb al-Islami in Beirut (2nd ed., 1998) within a compendium of several ʿAwālī works related to Imam Malik .
