al-Thalith Ashar min Fawaid Ibn al-Muqri (The Thirteenth Part of the Benefits of Ibn al-Muqri) is a hadith fascicle (juz') containing narrations and traditions transmitted by the Isfahani hadith scholar Abu Bakr Ibn al-Muqri (285–381 AH / 898–991 CE) .

Transmission and Selections

The larger corpus of Ibn al-Muqri's Fawa'id (hadith benefits) was preserved and transmitted through multiple selections (intikhab). Abu Sa'd al-Sam'ani documented hearing selections of the work compiled by Ibrahim ibn Muhammad al-Warraq via the transmission of Abu Tahir Ahmad ibn Mahmud al-Thaqafi, as well as an extensive selection compiled by Ibn Mardawayh comprising over twenty parts transmitted through Ibrahim ibn Mansur al-Sulami . Jalal al-Din al-Suyuti also cited chains of transmission for the Fawa'id of Ibn al-Muqri in eight parts leading back to Ibn al-Bukhari .

Content and Preservation

The thirteenth part comprises hadiths related with full chains of transmission (asānīd) from Ibn al-Muqri's authorities. Among the narrations cited from this part is the tradition reported through Yazid al-Asamm on the authority of Abu Hurayra concerning the revelation of the Quranic verse وَآخَرِينَ مِنْهُمْ لَمَّا يَلْحَقُوا بِهِمْ [al-Jumu'ah: 3], wherein the Prophet ﷺ placed his hand upon Salman al-Farsi and said: لو كان الإيمانُ عند الثريّا لناله رجالٌ من هؤلاء ("If faith were at the Pleiades, men from among these would attain it") .

A manuscript copy of this thirteenth part is preserved in Damascus at the al-Zahiriyya Library within the Majami' al-Umariyya collection (composite manuscript no. 105 / 3841 'amm, item 13, ff. 174–193) .
