al-Nukat wa al-Fawaid al-Sunniya ala Mushkil al-Muharrar (The Sublime Points and Benefits on the Difficult Issues of al-Muharrar) is a Hanbali legal commentary and gloss written by the jurist Shams al-Din Ibn Muflih (d. 763 AH / 1362 CE; another report gives 762 AH) . The work serves as an explanatory marginal gloss (hashiya) addressing the intricate and difficult passages in al-Muharrar fi al-Fiqh, a foundational jurisprudence compendium by Majd al-Din Ibn Taymiyya (d. 652 AH / 1254 CE) .

Content and Method

The book is frequently cited in Hanbali reference literature under the shorter title al-Nukat ala al-Muharrar . In it, Ibn Muflih elucidates the obscured and condensed phraseology of al-Muharrar, elaborates on divergent transmissions and positions (riwayat and wujuh) within the Hanbali school, and critically evaluates and debates several of Majd al-Din Ibn Taymiyya's specific legal analyses and preferences . Although primarily dedicated to substantive law (furu'), some bibliographical notices also classify its notes among foundational legal theoretical benefits (usul) .

Reception and Manuscripts

The commentary is recognized among the notable glosses composed on al-Muharrar, alongside works such as the glosses of Ibn Qundus and Ibn Nasr Allah . Manuscript copies of the text have been preserved in historical repositories, notably the Khedivial Library (now the Egyptian National Library) in Cairo .

The work was printed alongside the root text of al-Muharrar in two volumes by Matba'at al-Sunna al-Muhammadiyya in Egypt in 1369 AH (1950 CE) , and later reissued in Riyadh by Maktabat al-Ma'arif in 1404 AH (1984 CE) .
