al-Mujam al-Jami fi Tarajim al-Muasirin (Arabic: المعجم الجامع في تراجم العلماء وطلبة العلم المعاصرين, The Comprehensive Dictionary of Biographies of Contemporary Scholars and Students of Knowledge) is a biographical dictionary of contemporary Islamic scholars and students of knowledge compiled collaboratively by members of the Multaqa Ahl al-Hadith forum.
Origin and Compilation
The project was initially launched on the Multaqa Ahl al-Hadith forum by contributor Abdullah ibn Khamis under the title al-Jami fi Tarajim al-Ulama wa-Talabat al-Ilm al-Muasirin as a collaborative initiative. Various forum participants contributed entries on contemporary scholars and students of knowledge, gathering roughly 201 entries in an unindexed form. These entries were subsequently arranged in alphabetical order according to the Arabic alphabet to facilitate reference, resulting in the work's initial release under the name al-Mujam li-Tarajim al-Ulama wa-Tullab al-Ilm al-Muasirin.
A second version was later prepared for digital inclusion by forum member Usama ibn al-Zahra, who added further entries across various fields of Islamic scholarship to complement the initial collection, bringing the total number of profiled individuals to 274.
Sources and Method
The material for the biographies was gathered from multiple online platforms, including Tariq al-Islam, Sayd al-Fawa'id, Mishkah, Islam Online, and Multaqa Ahl al-Hadith. In compiling the dictionary, the compilers adhered to citing the specific source for each individual biography.
