al-Juz' al-Thani min Hadith Yahya ibn Ma'in (al-Fawa'id): Riwayat Abi Bakr al-Marwazi (The Second Part of the Hadiths of Yahya ibn Ma'in [The Benefits]: The Transmission of Abu Bakr al-Marwazi) is a classical hadith tract (juz') preserving traditions and critical transmissions narrated by the Baghdad hadith scholar Yahya ibn Maeen (158–233 AH / 775–848 CE) , as transmitted by his student Abu Bakr Ahmad ibn Ali ibn Sa'id al-Marwazi .

Transmission and Structure

The work forms the second installment of a three-part compilation known as Fawa'id Yahya ibn Ma'in (The Beneficial Hadith Notes of Yahya ibn Ma'in) recorded from Yahya by Abu Bakr Ahmad ibn Ali ibn Sa'id al-Marwazi . The text contains Prophetic narrations and reports transmitted with full chains of narration (asānīd) running through Ibn Ma'in from his teachers, including figures such as Yahya ibn Salih, along with associated commentary on their transmission and variants .

The transmission chain for the first two parts of this work was recorded by Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani, who traced his transmission through Ibrahim ibn Ahmad ibn Abd al-Hadi via Abu Tahir al-Silafi, Abu Abd Allah al-Razi, Abu al-Qasim Ali ibn Muhammad al-Farisi, and Abu Ahmad Abd Allah ibn al-Nasih back to Abu Bakr al-Marwazi . Ibn Hajar also cited traditions from the third part of the compilation via Egyptian chains linking to al-Marwazi in his commentary Fath al-Bari .

Modern Academic Study and Publication

The tract was prepared and edited as an academic master's thesis by Khalid ibn Abd Allah al-Subayt in the Department of Islamic Culture, College of Education at King Saud University in 1415 AH . It was subsequently published in print under his editorship by Maktabat al-Rushd in Riyadh in 1419 AH / 1998 CE .
